Interior Photography for Thoughtfully Designed Spaces
Based in Wānaka and working nationwide - stills and video carefully crafted to capture detail and atmosphere.
Interior Photography in Queenstown + Wanaka
I’m Sam – a Wānaka-based photographer with over a decade of experience capturing thoughtfully designed interior spaces across New Zealand.
I work closely with interior designers, architects, and suppliers to photograph residential, commercial, and hospitality interiors – creating imagery that highlights materials, spatial flow, and the lived-in feel of your work.
Whether you’re after a full set of images for a new project, or just a few key shots for your portfolio or socials, I’ll help you build a vibrant and eye-catching visual library that reflects your design intent.

“Sam has been fantastic to work with. I’ve been out of the business for a few years and just planning a return and he really made me feel confident in project. Very professional and clearly passionate about what he does. I would 100% recommend Sam for your projects.”

“For many years I took photos of renovation projects we completed for our clients. I cannot begin to explain how much easier and stress-free (not to mention the high-quality images) it is to hire a professional photographer like Sam to do it for us instead. I gave Sam minimal pointers and just let him work his magic, which he most definitely did. The photos are incredible, they capture the space perfectly, and they certainly make our business look more professional. We will be hiring Sam for all of our completed projects from now on.”

FAQs
-
I like to work with predominantly natural light and look for the small details, materials and textures that bring the space together. I like to discuss with my clients the intent behind their designs and understand what they’re most proud of so that I can showcase every detail of their work.
-
My photoshoots range from 1-2 hours for individual spaces (like kitchens and bathrooms) to a half or full-day depending on the scale of the project. Shooting time also varies depending on whether I’m creating both stills and a video or focussing on one of the two. I work with my clients to plan the most suitable scope for each individual shoot.
-
I’m more than happy to assist with minor styling tweaks and collaborate with my clients to get the shots looking perfect, but I do recommend that you have the space styled to your liking ahead of the shoot so that we can focus on the photos.
-
It really depends on how the project is situated and the atmosphere that the images should convey - do you want to showcase a bedroom in full sun or the evening glow of a living room with the lights on? I’ll work with you to plan the ideal time of day for documenting your project.
-
Absolutely. I’m based in Wanaka and regularly operate in Queenstown, Cromwell, throughout Central Otago and beyond. For shoots more than 30km from Wanaka a travel fee may apply, which I’ll discuss with you during the booking process.
-
Yes - all shoots include licensing for use across your website, social media, and award submissions without time limits. If any third parties (like architects, builders or other collaborators) would like to use the images too, they’ll need to arrange separate licensing. I offer a cost-sharing option to help make this more accessible across project teams.
-
Cost-sharing is a simple way to split the cost of a shoot between multiple parties involved in a project - for example, the architect, builder, interior designer, or suppliers. Each party receives licensed access to the final images for their own use, with shared costs making it more affordable for everyone. Just let me know who else might be interested in using the imagery, and I can provide a tailored quote.

“Sam's photography of our Wanaka holiday home was nothing short of amazing! His attention to detail and creative eye captured the essence of our property beautifully. Professional, friendly, and patient, Sam made the process seamless. The stunning photos he delivered have enhanced our listing and garnered numerous compliments. If you want top-notch photography that truly showcases your space, Sam is the photographer for you. Highly recommended! Thank you, Sam!”
