WANAKA Photography + Videography
Hi! My name is Sampford - Sam for short.
I’m a Wanaka-based photographer and videographer with a bit of an obsession for architecture and the built environment. I specialise in architectural photography, commercial photography (including headshots and product photography), and videography.
The clients that I work with all operate in fields where having high-quality, technically precise visual content is a must, and I strive to consistently create stunning, eye-catching photos and videos of every project to meet these requirements.
I started my business as a photographer in Auckland in 2012, working with a myriad of clients to showcase their projects across the country. In 2021 I made the move down to the South Island to live in Wanaka, where I’ve now established my business.
I have a rare eye condition called Keratoconus, which distorts my eyesight and lends to my unique and minimalistic photographic style (or I like to think it does, at least).
In 2021 I held my first solo exhibition, Retrospection, for my ongoing personal project: a series of fine art architectural photography prints that incorporate heritage photographs from the early 20th Century. In 2022 I held another exhibition called Duality showcasing a series of fine-art landscape prints of Otago.
In my downtime, my partner describes me as a “serial hobbyist” - I love to play guitar, hit the slopes, do karate and taste wines, although not all at once. Yet.
