View from Queenstown Hill, 1915

An iconic view of Queenstown and Lake Wakatipu from Queenstown Hill, taken by Frederick George Radcliffe (1863-1923), a farmer and photographer who came to New Zealand from Liverpool in the early 1890s, and founded a postcard business in 1909.

About Queenstown Hill

Rising above the township, Queenstown Hill (Te Tapu-nui) offers sweeping views over Lake Wakatipu and the surrounding peaks. Once part of the region’s pastoral farmland, it is now a popular walking reserve, symbolising both Queenstown’s early agricultural roots and its modern reputation for outdoor recreation.
