About First Church of Otago

Designed by architect Robert Lawson and completed in 1873, the First Church of Otago stands as one of Dunedin’s most significant examples of Gothic Revival architecture. Built from Oamaru stone, its soaring spire and intricate detailing reflect the prosperity and ambition of the city’s early Presbyterian settlers. The church remains an active place of worship and a defining landmark in Dunedin’s historic skyline.
