Viewfinder Exhibition at Steamer Wharf

Venue: Steamer Wharf, Queenstown

Dates: 1 - 30 November 2025

Entry: Free

Discover Viewfinder at Steamer Wharf this November as part of the Creative Spaces project. Experience a visual journey through Otago’s history, blending past and present photography.

This November, Viewfinder will be on display as part of the inaugural Creative Spaces project - a collaboration between the Three Lakes Cultural Trust and Queenstown Lakes District Council that pairs local creativity with unexpected spaces and places across the Queenstown Lakes District.

I’ve created a pop-up installation at Steamer Wharf, open to the public throughout the month, showcasing a selection of my favourite pieces from the Viewfinder series. Each image revisits a historic viewpoint across Otago, blending archival photographs with contemporary perspectives to explore the stories that have shaped the region.

The exhibition features heritage imagery sourced from the Lakes District Museum, Te Papa, Auckland Libraries Heritage Collections, and the Hocken Collections, bringing together a century of visual history of Otago into one cohesive display.

Entry is free of charge, and the photographs will be installed along the Steamer Wharf promenade, both by the large staircase and throughout the colonnade that borders Beach Street.

Proudly supported by Central Lakes Trust, this installation invites visitors to pause, reflect, and see our shared landscapes through the dual lenses of past and present.
