As one of Auckland’s most acclaimed cafés, Williams Eatery in Wynyard Quarter is known for its clean, modern aesthetic and warm, welcoming atmosphere. I recently collaborated with the team on a small, personal project to capture a fresh set of images - focusing on exteriors, details, and select interiors that highlight the character of the space.
The goal was to create a series of versatile images that showcase the café’s architectural setting, considered design features, and the inviting street presence it brings to the neighbourhood. We started with exterior shots to capture the building’s rich timber façade and the café’s connection to the public spaces around it, before moving inside to document the light-filled interior and subtle design details.
From the sharp geometry of the building’s lines to the distinctive yellow signage and soft natural materials inside, every frame was approached with a balance of architectural precision and an editorial sensibility. The resulting collection offers both wide context shots and intimate details – a visual snapshot of Williams Eatery that reflects its unique blend of design, hospitality, and location.
While this wasn’t a commissioned shoot, the images serve as a creative study and a celebration of a standout Auckland café, providing a refreshed perspective for both the team and their audience.
