This full-day shoot for the University of Auckland’s School of Optometry was commissioned to provide a suite of fresh imagery for their new prospectus and advertising collateral. The aim was to capture both the energy of student life and the hands-on nature of the programme, with photos that would appeal to prospective students considering a career in vision care.
Working with a group of current students, I produced a mix of natural, candid shots and more posed setups across a range of scenarios - from clinical examinations and tutorials to outdoor moments between classes. A big part of the brief was creating an authentic sense of connection between people, while keeping everything clean, professional, and on-brand.
As well as the student interactions, I also documented the faculty’s distinctive interior spaces, including the bright, modern atrium at the heart of the Grafton campus. These architectural shots help place the school in context and balance out the people-focused content with a sense of place.
The final image set was used in print brochures, online advertising, and social media campaigns - giving the School of Optometry a versatile visual library they can continue to draw from over time.
