This beautifully restored villa in Auckland’s sought-after Herne Bay was a real standout to photograph — a luxury listing that balances classic character with contemporary refinement.

Commissioned as a real estate shoot ahead of going to market, the brief was to showcase the full scale and quality of the home, while capturing the atmosphere that makes it so special. With its high ceilings, original detailing, and light-filled spaces, the home presented plenty of natural elegance to work with.

Across a full-day shoot, I photographed the exterior, gardens, and all key interior spaces — from the expansive open-plan living and kitchen areas to the formal sitting rooms, bedrooms, bathrooms, and media room. The home’s palette of soft neutrals, timber floors, and luxe materials gave every room a warm, welcoming feel — and the architecture let the light pour in beautifully throughout the day.

Given the market positioning, this project called for a polished, editorial-style approach — delivering a set of clean, professional images that would sit well across high-end listing platforms, brochures, and agent marketing. When it comes to properties at this level, quality photography plays a major role in getting attention — and it’s always a privilege to help present them at their best.
