A New Chapter for the Fairlie Courthouse
I recently had the opportunity to photograph and film a standout project for Phoenix Tapware, the restoration of the historic Fairlie Courthouse by Sarah Shanahan.
Originally built in the early 1900s, the courthouse has been thoughtfully reimagined into a contemporary home while retaining its original character. The design approach centres on preservation, repurposing existing spaces rather than altering the footprint. The result is a home that feels grounded in history while still being highly considered in its modern execution.
The brief was to capture a set of editorial, architectural-style images showcasing Phoenix’s Cromford Collection throughout the home, alongside a cinematic video that told the broader story of the project. This included weaving in an interview with Sarah to give context to the design approach and bring a more personal layer to the final piece.
This was a full-day shoot, capturing both stills and motion across the property. Deliverables included a complete set of architectural imagery, a hero video piece, and a collection of social cut-downs designed for use across multiple platforms and campaigns.
Projects like this are always rewarding to work on, not just for the design itself but for the clarity of vision behind them. Collaborating with an international brand like Phoenix Tapware and delivering a full set of assets across both photo and video is a great example of the kind of work I love being involved in.
