Muriwai Residence
Set above the wild west coast of Auckland, this glass-fronted home in Muriwai was photographed for its owners to help market the property as a high-end holiday rental. Designed by Carnachan Architecture, the residence is all about capturing natural light, ocean views, and creating an effortless connection between indoors and out.
The brief was to create a full suite of marketing-ready images that would appeal to discerning guests - balancing architectural precision with a relaxed, lifestyle feel. Over the course of a half-day shoot, I captured a wide range of interior and exterior angles, hero shots of the living spaces, and natural detail shots that highlight the home’s character and setting. Key spaces included the open-plan kitchen and dining area, bedrooms looking out to native bush, and the expansive living room framed by floor-to-ceiling glazing.
The home’s minimalist palette and lush surroundings meant that composition and light were doing most of the heavy lifting - especially in showing off the beachside location. We timed the shoot to make the most of morning light and avoided harsh overhead sun, ensuring every image had a soft, inviting tone suited to holiday rental platforms and print brochures alike.
Whether viewed as an architectural statement or a luxury escape, this was a shoot where simplicity, light, and landscape were everything.
